Coronary artery scans detect and measure calcium in the walls of the coronary arteries. Calcium is a marker of atherosclerosis. The accumulation of plaque in the coronary arteries ( blood vessels that bring blood and oxygen to the heart muscle ).
The earlier heart disease is detected, the greater the likelihood it can be slowed, stopped or even reversed.

A Heart Scan service includes:

  1. A preliminary view of your heart scan.
  2. A detailed report of your heart scan results from a Board-Certified Cardiologist.
  3. A copy of your heart scan report forwarded to your physician (if requested).

Who should have a heart scan?
Men 35 or older and women 40 or older. Younger individuals with any of the following risk factors should also be considered:

  • High Blood Pressure
  • High Cholestrol
  • Diabetes
  • History of tobacco use
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Overweight or obese
  • Family history of heart disease
  • Significant emotional or job-related stress
  • Other vascular disease
